Dear Sir/Madam,
The growing interest in the competition protection issues and the need for a public debate in this area signalled by practitioners and academics have induced the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection of Poland to convene the International Competition Law Forum. The conference will be held on April 15-16 2009 in the Sofitel Victoria Hotel in Warsaw.
The event is going to be a unique occasion to look at selected aspects of competition protection in the context of the financial crisis, the ongoing globalisation process and the practical challenges resulting from the development of new technologies. We would like to devote the discussion to selected aspects of setting antitrust fines, mergers in the retail sector and competition in the construction sector.
The conference participants will have an opportunity to exchange their opinions and experiences regarding the optimum solutions for strengthening the rules of free competition. To facilitate this goal we have invited a number of distinguished speakers who are going to contribute to the meeting with their expertise. Among them we are going to host Mr Philip Lowe, Director General for Competition at the European Commission and the heads of competition protection authorities from the EU member states and Canada. The event is organised under the honorary patronage of Ms Neelie Kroes, EU Commissioner for Competition.
I am looking forward to welcoming you in Warsaw and wish you and myself fruitful discussions at the conference.
Kind regards,

Małgorzata Krasnodębska-Tomkiel
President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Poland
